yea why did u just sit there and wait for the firefighters instead of using the fire extinguishers u had. I kno there is the risk of the car exploding but i would of tried something...maybe using a water hose or something. Either way sorry about your loss.

Wow so sorry about the loss man...

I cant believe such a GREAT car like that is gone :-\, i mean thats like a tuners dream car right there a 98 GSX.... But i am very sorry for your loss, but who knows maybe you will move onto bigger and better things...

i woulda said #### it and ran outside wit water even if the fire department wasnt there yet, well id proble use the hose to stay somewhat of a distance away, but that seriously sucks ass. if you cant rebuild it and you dont got no money autotrader.com and find dealerships who will finance you a used one ... thats if you still want another eclipse

i know i have been regreting this every second since it happend......
i would consider fixing it but i think it would cost to much and i usaully dont do the work on my car so it would probaly cost like 10k to fix 5k for parts if not more and labar

yes i am deff getting aonther dsm i have to, i was thinken a 97-99 gst maybe in future

and i dont know if the extinguishers would of helped the volernters got their in 10 min and used 4 of them and agarden hose and didnt do shit, the flames were really high, but i should of atleats tried somen

well their is a small chance I might get the money back i am trying to sue him their is a law u have 30 days it was like 25 so i am good.... my lawyer is looking into it, but whatsever happens i am getting a eclipse probaly wont be a gsx cant afford it, but whats better getting a gst or a gs and putting a turbo in it?

gst's have turbos already. Its the same engine as the gsx.... :D

still have dibs on the wing :p
:thumb: :talon:

edit**** i read that wrong, go with a gst versus getting an nt and turboing it. Or look for a TSI AWD, it will be a little cheaper on the insurance.

Mike-
Let us know how it turns out with the lawsuit and everything. Atleast you have a bunch of people on tuners who are willing to buy parts off you. Maybe you can sell enough pieces and parts to get a big turbo.

screw rebuilding it...

part it out, sell as much as you can. someone will buy all that stuff. the gsx drive train, the block, tires, rims, etc etc. you can probably make a pretty significant amount of money back off the car even if it is melted.

look around, be patient, save your money and find yourself a gsx. dont get a gs and turbo it, it will cost you as much and wont be as fast as a gsx in the long run.

im really sorry for your loss, but remember, you can get some money out of your car still. i mean, w/o looking into the car i know you can see the rims, the block, the head, the wing, probably the tranny, the drive shafts, the axels, some body panels maybe, misc interior peices, your seats maybe if they arent melted, etc etc. youd be suprised how much money you can get from that. good luck with your next purchase. since you live in NY, i recommend going to pruven in NJ, thats where im taking my car this summer and they sound like really good people. they built this gsx in the area that is an absolute monster.

plus you're probably going to get a nice pay check from the law suit... just use that to buy an evo as your beater....

and an enzo as your race car :p

that really sucks man, i say rebuild it. bionic man style. bigger, stronger, faster.. a couple weekends in the junkyards and garage and some friends and it could be back up and running fairly quick.. ive seen much much much much worse fires. i wouldnt write it off until you get in there and see exactly whats ####ed

well maybe i should keep the drivetrain if i get a gst (97-99) cant i make it awd w/ my parts from 98 gsx? will it work or too much of a hassle

Sorry about your misfortune bro. I'm pretty local and would be willing to pick up some parts if you decide to part it out.

yes you could....

sorry about the GSX

btw im intrested in the rims if you decide to part it out

My green talon caught on fire a couple years ago, I'm sure if you search for the thread you'll find it. Mine was a similar issue, electrical problems due to a previous accident.

Check your PMs.

No you can't, it's a different undebody structure.

You can adapt an AWD drivetrain to a GST Spyder though.

""marcmsj i guess that's why it's mandatory in some countries to have a fire extinguisher in your car. maybe i should pick one up sometime ""

well when i get my next eclipse i will have at least 5 extinguisher in the trunk, casue i cant go through what happened again

even if the car went up in flames shouldnt the block still be good ? i mean it is metal
