well i thought i had gotten my car all set up and running smoothly, it was even idling right! so i disconnected the battery to see if i could get the cel to go off (code for high idle). after i reconnected it i started it up and it idles high, wont go past 3500 rpm, doesnt shift right, and spits more black smoke than a semi.

ALL I DID WAS DISCONNECT AND RECONNECT THE BATTERY!

why would it do this?

i didnt have a tune or dsmlink or safc or anythying, its pretty much a stock car! is there a certain amount of time i have to leave it disconnected? should i disconnect it again and let it run in the driveway for a while?

edit: i disconected it again and started it up and after 2 or 3 mins the idle went back down, i am gonna let it run for like 15 mins or so and see what happens. sorry if this was a stupid question, im not too familiar with dsms yet.

my idle has come down but when i drive it it still wont shift right, i can get it up to 2500 rpm and then it just feels like it goes into nuetral. if i put it to the floor it will go up tp 2500, spit and sputter for a few seconds and then take off like it should, it will puff out a huge cloud of black smoke and then it wont smoke until i stop and try to take off again. someone please help i need this car for transportation

What did you take the battery off to do? Did you by chance mess around with any intercooler piping?

On a cold start you're in closed loop, when you disconnect the battery you can lose your fuel trims, if some part of your car isn't running very well that can cause some pretty big drivability issues. Let it run.

OP as said above, do a BLT Also you obviously have other underlying problems... .

But,

when you disconnect the battery you can lose your fuel trims, if some part of your car isn't running very well that can cause some pretty big drivability issues. Let it run.

^ This is more then likely what you noticed happen Get you other issues (Idle Boost leaks) taken care of... your trims will relearn...
