Just got my car, still kinda new to DSM. All I want to know is the maintainence I'm gonna need to take care of. Obv timing and balance belts are to be changed religiously, but what else? Do the transmissions generally need care? Maybe a new oil filter? Also how long will my stock hoses last? My car has only 52,000mi on it, but I just want to make sure I have it running well before I get some mods for it. If you can think of anything else, or just let me know important stuff to check out it'd help. Thanks.

Is your car a manual or auto? Any records on oil changes or any maintenance in the past? Does your car have any leaks, oil, power steering, etc.? Original parts on the car, spark plug wires, hoses, etc.? You are on the right track with the timing belt, be sure to change them both, (the timing belt B is usually what they call it). Also depending on how your car was taken care of before hand? Let me know, good luck :thumb:

I this same thing right when I bought mine. Here is a list of things I did:

1. Kevlar Timing and balancing belts
2. replace your battery unless its brand new
3. Get a diagnostic test run on your car
4. coolant system flush
5. Get your alternator tested
6. Replace your spark plugs with NGK's and perhaps the wires too
7. And since you are going to have all the belts off to replace the timing belt you may as well put on a pulley kit with new belts
8. Motor Mounts (two of mine were torn)
9. Go buy royal purple motor oil and a filter
10. Get your wheels and tires balanced and rotated, along with an aligment
11. If its got a turbo, take off the intercooler and clean it, along with the piping

Your stock tranny will be fine until you hit high horsepower unless the previous owner beat the #### out of it. I think that should be pretty much it.
Good luck and happy modding.
