Balling on a budget

I've searched thru the threads and still cannot find the answers in looking for. I have an awd 1g. I'm somewhat new to dsm's and I was just curious what my fellow enthusiasts opinions were if.... You have a pretty much stock dsm and have $1000 budget where would you guys invest it? I know where I want to be with my project in the future as far as hp ratings, but that's far Down the road. Just curious to what parts get the best bang for the buck without wasting money

Thanks again for everybody's opinions. As far as maintenance goes I have engine/transfer case/transmission all torn apart. I'm going to run a centerforce dual friction kit. As far as gauges go I have aftermarket boost gauge and oil psi gauge. Any recommendations on other gauges ? I definitely want to get a wideband kit.
