balance shaft

What will happen if i just leave the balance shaft bellt off.

Your going to feel more vibration then before, because the timing belt is still spinning the other balance shaft.

Other then that will it hurt anything. I have a guy working on it and he just found out the gear on the BS was just turning with out turning the BS

if you are going to do that might as well remove the balance shaft out.

The guy working on it didn't feel like pulling the motor. So i will just take the chance with the shaft.

You don't have to pull the motor to remove the balance shafts. I've done it on a couple of N/T's. It's a pain in the butt, but it can be done.

would you guys and girls recommend pulling the BS, or leaving it in for a 4G63T with about 130k?? And if leaving it in, how much of a pain is it to time??

I say remove it i just hade mine removed cant really even notice its gone. And guy from one the the dsm shops i called around here said its best to have it removed cause the bearing will freeze up at sometime if you dont replace them

Balance shafts are harder on bearings than rods or crankshafts. Either remove the shafts or replace their bearings.

No shafts will vibrate but no problem.
New balance shaft bearings will cost time and money but otherwise no problem.
Old worn bearings on high mileage engines... problem. Expensive problem.

Maintain or remove.

Thanks Guys. I'll just take them out. I'm assuming both. Can this be done without removing the engine?? How much vibration are we talking about?? And last but not least, will the oil pump be safe?? Thanks, Josh
