My newly rebuilt 4G63 engine runs good. But at hyer RPM's it feels like there is something going on with my balance shaft(s). I have abnormal engine vibration. is it possible the balance shaft is upside down?

But you're an old fart . . . Like me ;)

The good reasons begin to out-weight the reasons to keep them as you increase the abuse of the platform. . .

Right you are. But my Talon will not be abused, it has to last forever.

The stroker conversion made the piston speed higher increasing vibration forces. The Prothane motor mounts pass more of the vibration to the chassis and that’s enough for me. At WOT the auto tranny shifts at 7000 RPM so I don’t worry about high RPMs so my choice was to keep the balance shafts.

I know many of the young Tuners will look at the same factors and make a different choice and that’s ok. As long as they keep paying their Social Security tax because the Talon needs a new headliner.

I've learned to accept throwing money away at my talon. I've thought about selling it multiple times over the years when it seemed like I could never keep it running long enough to enjoy the ride. Now I look at it and I have the funds to just maintain it so I think "why the heck not keep my first car?" It's still a very fun car to drive on the weekends.
