Balance Shaft Belt Snapped. Uh Oh

So my head gasket blew and i pulled my head off and timing and i found my balance shaft belt snapped and the teeth smoothed out on it. It looks like it's been there for a while but my car has no knock that i'm aware of. I heard a clicking but i think it was my lifters as i nearly ran out of oil as suddenly i have a leak somewhere. But besides that before the head gasket blew the car ran fine.

What precautions should i take to make sure i don't have or get crankwalk?

well you have a 1g 7 bolt if it's a late 92.don't worry about crank walk does not happen to much it a 1g.but I would take care of that balance shaft issue if you read some of the balance shaft post you will get the info you need about what to with it.
well what I would do is take the belt off (to make sure you don't run in to any issue down the road due to that belt.) and do a balance shaft removale.

Alright yeah, mine is a 6bolt though it's an early 92 but either way i already have a balance shaft belt already here so should i just put that on or should i highly look into a balance shaft elimnator kit?

I HIGHLY recommend doing the BSE. You're lucky the belt never broke and took out your timing belt and bent the valves in the head.

Balance Shaft Eliminator Kit Install About $50 from Mitsu when I did my BSE.

It is some work doing the front case, but if you have a garage and some patience it is worth it. I recommend porting the relief valve in the OFH to keep your oil pressure in check while you are in there. The pressure tends to get too high after you block off the BS oil ports if you don't. There are a few good threads here on how to do it correctly.

My local machine shop stocks the bse kit. Id pull your motor out and do that. a bs belt killed my stock 2g motor like a month after i bought it.

I have the belt already and i do not have time to pull the motor and do a BSE process as i need it asap to get back and forth from work and get where i need so what are some things i can do to prevent this balance shaft belt from snapping and taking the motor down with it?

You don't have to pull the motor to do a BSE, but I would set aside a whole Saturday to do it. I am slow as hell, but I take my time b/c it not my dd so I hear ya there.

I don't know how to prolong the life of the belt and keep it from snapping...I guess replacing it was a good first step.
