yesterday i was driving my 98 eclipse gsx, and it seemed like someone just turned the car off while i was driving and then she wouldn't start back up... She turns overs but won't start up. my horn doesn't work, but all other electrical things work... what might be wrong?

... Lol my power unit pluggin came undone.

I can't say the horn plays a big part unless a fuse blew. Any fuel fuses and ignition fuses would be an easy first check. It's a pain but my brother's 97 chewed up the Crank position sensor and it wouldn't start, or run.

Check your fule pump. if it died out your car would deffinatly just shut down and start back up.

That too-

I'm not sure on DSM's but every other vehicle I've owned, I could lightly tap on the fuel pump and get 'er to kick in enough to drive home. Thankfully unlike all my other cars, it doesn't require a tank drop.

Check all the electrical harnesses you can see around your engine. Pull them, then re-plug them in and make sure they're firmly seated. I've had similar behavior a few times from harnesses that weren't plugged in fully and worked themselves loose, resulting in the car just shutting off. In this case it's likely one related to the coilpacks or power transister if it won't start up but will turn over.

First confirm you have these things.

Spark, fuel, and the engine is timed correctly. One of these is missing, or the ignition timing is just somehow magicly waaaay off. Which I doubt. With what little you have told us, it's impossible for us to try to tell you "check this".

First I would make sure you have spark, just pull your plugs, set them on top your valve cover and have someone turn the car over. If you got spark on all four, then i'd check the fuel system. Make sure your pump is coming on when you turn the car on. Then check your injectors and MPI fuse. etc. After that come back and update us on what you found out. If you have all that, then i'd check the CAS or rather crank angle sensor in your case. Although if you have spark, it has to be working to some degree. If it wasn't picking up a signal at all, thats ONE cause for no spark...by no means the only possible reason.
