Black smoke pores out of my muffler while/only when turbo is spooling and my car smells terrible from outside and I have horrible response... blown turbo? whats goin on?

NO..... black smoke = running rich blue smoke = burning oil

Possible places for oil leakage. Turbo seal, pcv, valve seals and piston rings. The fact the this happens during boosting, I suspect the turbo seal. Check the turbo for shaft paly, free spin and oil in ic/licp.

edit: never mind, I read it again and I thought it said blue smoke the first time, I need glasses or sleep. ROFL

In his thread he wrote BLACK smoke is coming out, then you yourself said blue smoke equals oil(which is true), then you said its an oil leak? I dont get your post..........

Is the turbo whining? Is the idle really choppy and seam like its gonna die when your parked? Does it smoke/smell at all when the car is parked and running?

Forget the turbo. Turbo isn't part of the problem. You're dumping fuel like a glutton. Like everyone else said, check for boost leaks. Check O2 sensors and check your MAF. Also, like Eastwood95 said, do you have a choppy idle and does it stink while at idle?

he edited his post.... i think he saw he made a mistake.

on topic, check LICP where it mates to the SMIC. the rubber piece inside the ICP may have went out on you. same thing happened to me.

YES!!! it smells terrible at idle... I'll go check for leaks now... thanks guys
Also my CEL is on readign p1400 emissions sensor could this be a problem?

Always a good idea to check leaks. Do you have a Check Engine Light? Go run the codes if so. If you don't, go replace the o2 sensor if you don't have any leaks.

if the leak is big enough, you should be able to hear the hissing noise thats coming from the leak, just turn the car on, pop the hood and stick your head around different spots of the engine maybe you will hear it. IF not, its a pain in the arse but take off all your intercooler pipes and couplers and re-install them ensuring they are sealed properly..........

Yes I most certainly did. :) This is what happens when you spent 15 hours a day on tuners. ROFL Sorry guys.

Doesn't always work. The UICP that's bolted down. Well, if that pipe isn't bolted down then when the motor flex's it will pull the pipe off the IC, but it'll settle back on the IC. 3 days of testing later I found out that's what my problem was because I kicked my car and saw the hose jump.

I checked for leaks... al IC pipes are good, but I did find that oil was leaking into my intake b/c i connected the hose from the valve cover directly into my intake. Could this cause teh smoke if teh oil is entering the turbo?

Well, think about the way the turbo flows. The turbo sucks air from the intake and throws it to the IC, then to the intake. Unless oil is being sucked through the seals or ALL the way through the piping it shouldn't. On a stock LICP there's a small catch can for oil and whatnot so you might want to take off the pipe and wash it out with gas. Might as well clean the IC out, also with gas. Just don't smoke when you do it.

The only way to find boost leaks is through a REAL pressure test. Visual inspection doesn't work because there are no pressure air to leak during idle. Even if you can build some pressure free reving it, the engine noise will drown out anything else.

No, it's normal to have oil in the intake pipe if the breather is routed to it.

Definately make a boost leak tester man. It's DEFINATELY worth it! I thought I didn't have any leaks but got one anyway. It ended up that I had 4 major leaks!

did anyone else not see where he said he has an emmissions check engine light code being thrown? o2 sensor bad? just an idea?

(i know some of you mentioned the o2 sensor, but it seems like you guys just suggested it, and he didnt really listen,... i kinda just skimmed over, but thats what it looks like... anyways, get a new o2 sensor...)

According to www.troublecodes.net (and confirmed via Chilton's), P1400 is a Manifold Differential Pressure Sensor circuit. I have no idea where that is on a 2G, maybe a 2G specialist can help out.
