I have an old school craftsman impact wrench and it has 1-4 speed settings and i don't know what the hell the torque settings are.. but i was wondering if i have to torque the crankshaft sprocket to spec or can i just tighten the hell out of it and not worry about it after the belt install??

Any help is appreciated..
thanks

If you are talking about the big ass bolt on the bottom, just tighten it with the gun. Trying to hold the crankshaft and pull on the torque wrench with an extention on the socket is a recipe for a black eye. The proper thing to do is torque it, but it's an 18mm bolt I believe. I don't think you will be able to break it or stretch the threads. I do, on average, 5-6 timing belts/month. Never had a problem just tightening it with a gun.

Okay cool man, i was just trippin' that my impact wouldn't tighten it enough and my crankshaft sprocket would fly off when i'm boosting LOL.. Alright man i guess i'ma rip this stuff off and put in my new balance shaft belt and pulley.. thanks bro

Umm you do not need to remove the crankshaft bolt to replace the belts. There are 4 smaller bolts around it on the pulley which get removed giving you access to the drive gears behind where the belts go onto. Hopefully this saves you some time fighting with that bolt as its often near impossible to remove and unnecessary for what you're doing ;)

The crank sprocket and trigger plate must come off to access the BS sprocket.
