I bought my eagle talon earlier this year. It had a rattling noise goin on like something bouncing around and a very loud wooooming sound. So 8k miles later its still there and i made my conclusion that its the balance shaft bearing. No if i re-time the timing and phase the shaft correctly would that be fine without putting that bearing back in. Im asking because my oil pressure is Perfect and after 8k miles with that bearing out so that has me believing its the bearing without a oil hole. I should be alright shouldnt I.

Thanks

Personally, if I knew there was something rattling in the engine, I would definitely want it check out/removed, and/or fixed. Doesn't matter if it could go for 15k miles or more.

Edit: Derp... ^^that. :)

The rear balance shaft bearing doesn't have an oiling hole. However, with balance shafts installed, the rear shaft is spinning with practically one support in the oil pump if that bearing is missing. This will end up trashing your oil pump and engine if you let it go for too long.

I'd highly recommend pulling the pan to at least find out if your theory is correct and go from there.

This is what I fear...i thought the balance shaft had 3 bearings, now im believing its something elsr. Tomorrow i'll definetly know. But without that bearing my oil pump should fail right? I jus have a feeling when I put it back in phase all hell is going to break loose. Im just at a consumption that it should have failed already...i guess we'll see

There are two bearings for the front shaft; only one for the rear shaft; three in total, yes.

Assuming that it is the rear bearing, it has nothing to do with it being in phase or not. Its going to vibrate in the bore because of the eccentric shape and imbalanced weight of the shaft itself when it rotates. That will eventually eat up the oil pump.

When mine spun the BS bearings it vibrated the whole car the more i revved it, took off the oil pan and sure enough the bearings were sitting there. You dont want that oil flowing thru your engine it was like liquid silver, you have to pull the motor and and get the block and head and everything cleaned and hot tanked.

Ok, let me detail a lil more. If I do a WOT pull it womt rev past 5500 in second gear. It will in first but not the rest like its struggling. The power is there but it jus starts to move slowly(the tach). Hopefully its because the bs bein out of phase. and the car shakes at idle, but that may be my egr as this is the only problem I have at the moment. you only notive these things at idle even the noise im assuming on the oil pan, when I drive the car sounds normal. The harmonic balancer seperated among the rubber part and im replacing that, the reason why im workin on it

Just cough up the Damn money for a 55$ BSEK. And you wont have to worry about a" out of phase" balance shaft.
When I did mine I turned the front bearing to block the oil hole and just left the back two in there.....

Good luck man!!

you drove your car for 8k miles with that noise...

My god do i hate our car enthusiasts

Well you gotta understand its my dd....and unless u wanna send me a bse kit dnt even respond..help or get off. Im tryna figure out the fastest n best way of takin care of this.
To everyone else thanks. I will report back n let u guys know wut I found.

Ok guys no bearing in my oil pan. The guys who had it b4 me didnt bolt the exhaust all the way back up...so the shaft is just out of phase, didnt get to it as im gixing all the problems while its down
