Hey whats going on guys , im going to get to the point. When my car is on my car makes a ticking noise , it sometimes goes and sometimes it doesnt. My Timing belt is still there changing this week. My mechanic told me we had a Hydraulic valves which i did not know. he recommended getting some liquid to fix the car , i got Gunk Valve Medic has anybody Tried or had the same problem. If anybody can help me that would be great..... Im going to try it in the morning cause today was raining so i didnt feel like doing it. IF anybody has any other suggestions let me know.

We have hydraulic lifters. Sometimes they tick, especially in the winter when its cold. Try running 5w-30 oil through it during the cold weather, it should alleviate most of the ticking noise.

As far as valve problems... i would do a leak test to see if the valves really are leaking. If they are, run some top engine cleaner, or seafoam through it (i havent heard of this valve medic stuff before so i cant say if it will work the same or not) and then do another leak test. If they are still leaking then you may have to clean them up and re-grind the valves and seats.

id say ticking in a dsm is almost always the infamous "lifter tick" which is definately known to come and go with the cold weather, 5w 30 in the cold is a good idea, also running some auto tranny fluid thru it (acts as a detergant to clense the lifters) is always a good idea, ive gotten rid of some pretty nasty lifter tick over the years by doin that- just my .02

im going with the infamous lifter tick.

run a 5w-30 synthetic(itll take a thousand miles to work itself in), and see if that helps. that usually did the trick on mine, and if not, add a half qt of tranny fluid(of the same viscosity if possible, im really not sure if they make 5w30 tranny fluid) and see if that does the trick.

have you listened to the valves with the oil cap off and your ear to the filler hole when its ticking to make sure its coming from the valves? thatll tell you right there if its a lifter tick or like defiant said, a exhaust leak.

Yea im pretty sure that its the Lifters thats what my mechanic said when he was working on my car , i dont think the catalytic converter is the problem he said thats it probably got messed up , because the owner before got into an accident with the car.

OUt of topic what are the stock piping are they 2 inch or 1 1/2 he told me it was 1 1'2 thats small..
