20,000 miles ago I rebuilt my Tsi AWD and now compression is
#4 133, #3 132, #2 117, #1 140

I think the order is right (#1 is net to the TB I think)

The car runs excellent, has good power, idles great. The plugs are slightly grey/white. I never see smoke (maybe others do). I just can't figure what happened. :(

No leak test done yet, but I did put oil in the cylinders and came up with this:
#4 165, #3 148, #2 141, #1 180

Guess I'll tear in again

180psi on #1? WTF? 162 is standard...

Maybe the rings never seated? (sp?)

Cylinder #1 is closest to the timing belt (driver's side).

White plugs indicate an overheating condition, usually caused by a too-lean air/fuel mixture. If it looks like there are small "blisters" on the electrode, then it is extremely hot and is collecting deposits that melted from inside the combustino chamber.

A white colored plug is caused by engine overheating. Failure to repair this engine will result in severe engine damage. Common causes for this are:
Incorrect spark plug (too hot heat range).
Low octane fuel.
Ignition timing is not set properly.
Cooling problems.
Air/fuel mixture is too lean (too much boost, incorrect tuning).
Low oil.

162 is standard compression without adding oil to the cylinders. What happened to cause you to have to rebuild to begin with?

I rebuilt because the compression was low. But now that I look at the compression from back then it was better than it is now. Oh well. I enjoy rebuilding it. Thats fine, I'll just do it again.
