Hey guys i am purchasing a 91 tsi awd with a bad accuator(hope i spelled it right). In result the waste gate is staying wide open. So my question is buy a new wastegate for it?(correct me please if i am wrong but the accuator is apart of the waste gate right?) Or should i get my hands on a used 16g setup. Looking for a quickest way to get the car running good right now.

Thanks alot guys.

Jeff

EDIT: Oh ya is there anyway to shut the waste gate for about 350 miles to drive the car home under boost?

You really dont want to hold the wastegate shut, this means the car will keep building boost until you let off the throttle. You could damage your motor really quick doing it this way.

Thats the actuator from SBR, but on ebay it must be way cheaper. Personally I would just go with a 16g setup.

the wastegate is part of the actuator, and also built into the turbine housing. The actual port for the wastegate is in the turbine housing.

I just picked up a ported/polished Big 16g turbo that im going to have to rebuild because it has more shaft play than Ron Jeremey. But I like it already and its not even on my car.
