Back seat delete kit???

I've thought about removing and custom fabbing something like what you guys have shown. My only thing is I would like for it to look ... seamless ... like it was born into existence without a rear seat. I know it will take time, and its not really a priority, (you know since we can take out or back seats in 5 seconds flat), but if you could make it look like seats were never there in the first place, that would be pretty nice IMHO. :D

This is one of those things were your imagination, style, and fabrication skills come into play. It's all about what you like and what you want and are capable of doing. Like if you want a plan basic look just buy carpet that matches your and extend into the trunk area. Or if you wanna throw some subs in and don't mind the extra weight. Can do fabricate a bracket to hold sub box where seats were. Or a fiberglass display. Just gotta remember to make your fuel pump accessible. My plan would be to Fo a 6 point strut bar with a sub display. But its all about what you want and can do.

This is what I came up with, weighs under 5lbs. What's cool is that it lifts up from the hinges so I can hide stuff underneath

Suede baby

What seats are those? If those are EP3 seats from a SIR I am all over it, cause I been contemplating about buying a pair off this guy locally..

I agree with both myndvast and trix that with enough time & resouces, anything can be made. My own imagination runs wild with different setups that could be made, however my limited time and thriftyness won this battle yet still extermely pleased with the outcome. The fabrication was roughly an hour with materials being under ten bucks since I already had most of the items used. I feel like this setup made could perhaps be a 'cookie cutter' mod that could be mass produced quickly, easily, cheaply

Yup! :thumb: check my thread about them here http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/appearance-interior-exterior/396811-honda-seats-my-dsm.html just keep in mind much modification is required to install them

Would be amazing if someone could pick up a 1g rear seat delete like the mustang kit above. Very clean install and not so dirty looking. My buddy has a rear delete kit in his 03 Mach 1 and wow... Amazing install and easy to do (since I did it LOL.) Someone should have a vender build up some prototypes for this. I know I would be in line to buy it.

This is not my car I found it in "show me your sub setup" thread I think it looks clean. I will be doing this in the upcoming months.

I have never seen a rear seat delete that looks good. They all look boxy and out of place IMO. I honestly don't get what the point of deleting it is. If you don't want people to sit back there, don't let them.

I don't let people sit back there period. Everyone says "I can sit in the back" ROFL then they get the reply as, "HA funny joke. No one sits in back of me."

It's just good for weight loss.

I actually had way more room for people to sit when I took out the seats :p

But I removed mine and replaced with the current setup because the stockers :barf: don't match my front seats at all

Haha, same here, that and there just isnt enough room to have someone sitting in the back.

The only way you would actually lose weight would be to remove them and have nothing there. Making a wooden fixture in it's place would just put most of the weight right back in. What I did on my last Talon was just took the seat belts out and called it a day.

That's what I'm thinking. Maybe a couple pieces of thin sheetmetal or plastic/fiberglass, mounting bolts and matching carpet. Done.

I'm sure it's more in depth so I can't tell if your post was sarcasm or not. If not, then ok. LOL

It's just something for vendors or freelancers to look into doing. This thread seems to generate enough interest to know people would be interested in it.

I totally agree. I am going to make a sub box that replaces the rear seats just like Craig's (Calan) but put a storage box in the middle. If a vendor were to make a kit out of something lighter than MDF and it bolted in and looked good, I'd be all over it.

I cant fit anyone but my girlfriend, which is 5'2, 105lbs, back there comfortably, and she usually gets shotgun! I hardly ever use the back seats but for storage and wouldn't mind taking them out, but i just don't like the fact i would technically have a two seater after that!

Im down for not being cheap with my car chris, im just broke right now with alot of legal issues!

If i had the tools to make such "kit" i would jump right on this seeing how many people are interest! Thing is, you would have to come up with a design that everyone would agree on having(although the design is quite simple)!

I'm going to do something like this over the weekend i'll take pictures once I'm done.

It would have to be a custom fab that doesn't cost much to buy, but does look pretty good. Considering that it's not for everybody, there could be stages for the desired look, fit, and function. For instance, I would buy it for not only ease of install, but ease of removal because I have godchildren that like to ride in their uncle's "race car". So I need to be able to put it in for me, but take it out for them when they ride (which I can do now with the rear seats anyway.) I just like the 2 seater look a whole lot better when it's just me. Next, if it's a weekend racer ... well now you need a design that can be a little less pleasing to the eye, but really is lightweight and functional. It can still be carpeted, or vinyl to match the interior, but it has the purpose of playing both sides. The last stage would be for the serious racer who has another dd or two. The setup can be functional only, with cutouts for caging. It could even have spaces for battery relocation, or some of the other mods we may do to the seating area or hatch/trunk area. It's a very doable project with the possibility of making some money from the market. I know when my rear seats are out that I prefer it that way, but again I would like for it to be a finished looking area that is pleasing to look upon.

Does the rear seat act at all as a sound deadner or not enough to make a difference?

I have a 1g but I noticed quite a bit more road noise from the rear with the seats out. For most people that remove them, its not that big of deal. Its like the extra vibrations from poly engine mounts, you notice them, but its not gonna stop you from driving the car.

first week i had my 97 gst i took them out, 2 days later put them back in, i noticed a huge sound difference, i could head wayyyy more road noise than i could with them in. the seats are foam so yea it does act as a sound deadener.
