I did my homework, so before you start convincing me to keep the 7cm housing and how much more it flows, please read below.
My current setup:
4g64 2.4L Sohc motor with stock N/A internals running 10 psi daily on B16G.
Due to smaller runners, smaller valves the turbo is spooled at around 3500 rpms.
since it is a 4g6, I really hate to rev it high, the car sees no more than 5.5k daily, so my power band is from 3.5k to 5.5k - very negligible.
I want to have my turbo to spool up much earlier and since I have a 14b as a back up turbo, I can use the 6cm housing. As you see i dont get to use my top end, so i'm thinking the housing won't be restrictive. The car sees mostly 2k - 5k driving and i want it to be strong.
So, do you guys think it is ok to have 6cm housing in this particular case?
What else could be done - smaller diameter intercooler pipes? I'm running 2.5 all around, do you think reducing all pipes to 2 or 2.25'' will help and just leave the UICP 2.5''
