I recently just had the balance shafts removed and I was wondering if I need to have an oil restricter for the turbo with the upped oil PSI? I have been reading about other journal bearing turbos and a lot of them require oil restricter so they will not fail. Does this apply to the b16g as well?

Thanks, Kyle

If you are feeding from the OFH, yes.
If from the head, the stock 1g feed line has one built in.

If your oil source is coming from the filter housing, you should be using a restrictor regardless.

The stock oil line from a 1G (at the head) has a restrictor built into the banjo end of the line at the turbo; swapping to an oil source with three times the pressure and volume that the turbo needs is not a good thing.

The turbo is being fed from the OFH. What kind of oil restrictor do I need and can I get one at advance or Auto Zone? If I can not get it from said places, could you please post up a link to the one I would need.

Thanks, Kyle

eBay item # 250518630566.

No offense, but Advance and Autozone can't even sell you the right oil filter half the time...would you expect them to know anything about proper turbocharger lubrication?

The only DSM part I would buy from a major chain auto parts store is possibly an air freshener.

Fair enough LOL. It was more of a convenience thing. Thanks again.

I was considering that actually. I just ordered a oil pressure gauge and might use the port where the oil feed line is connected to the OFH. Then use the oil feed port at the head. I am not sure where that port is on the head but I have a oil temp gauge and the sensor is connected to the front left of the head. would that be the same spot for the turbo oil feed?

Why not get a new 1G oil feed line from the head and just run the turbo as it was intended? The factory parts are cheaper than aftermarket in this case.

MR239830 = 1G Oil Supply Line ($23 brand new from JNZ)
MF650102 = 10mm Banjo Bolt For Head ($11 brand new from JNZ)

after all that time where oil has stagnated near the plug in the head, there will more than likely be deposits. I will again recommend you add the pre-filter.

Well, as I already have the stainless steel line from the OFH I was just going to reuse it and get a filter/reducer since I have to get it anyways.

Thanks for the help fellas.
