2G B&M fuel pressure regulator?

The previous owner of my car Installed a B&M fuel pressure regulator and a B&M fuel pressure gauge. He set it at stock fuel pressure and never played with it cause he ended up not buying more modifications. I am under the assumption that the stock fuel pressure regulator adjusts fuel pressure according to how much boost the turbo is pushing. My question is will the B&M do the same thing or will I run into problems. Should I go back to a stock regulator? I dont want to run lean if the fuel pressure stays the same all the time. Thanks for you help.
 
Since you're still on the stock fuel system, you shouldn't have a problem using it (although you want to verify this with a gauge - it should read around 43.5 psi at idle with the vacuum line off). Once you go to upgrade your fuel pump, you might run into some problems. If you go with a 190lph pump, it should still work fine. The B&M unit still uses parts from the stock regulator which is why it should still be fine (since you can run a 190lph pump without an AFPR). However, it only allows you to adjust the fuel pressure up. Because of these two factors, if you were to go with a 255lph pump, this would not be a good choice to continue to use since the 255lph will overrun those stock parts you are still using. If you plan on getting a 255lph pump, I'd look into getting an Aeromotive AFPR.
 
You can just leave it on for the time being but if you start to modify your fuel system with larger pumps (such as the Walbro 255), this item is useless as it will still suffer from overrun, just like the stocker. All the B&M units does is make the stock FPR adjustable, but it doesn't remove the portion of the stocker that a restriction & cause the over run condition with the larger fuel pumps. As far as how your FPR will function related to boost, it will be the same. As was said, remove the vacuum line & set the base fuel pressure to 43.5psi at idle.
