hey guys

Got a 94 Talon TSI (FWD)

How on earth can i get the axle out, Is there a snap Ring or something, this thing is LODGED it the Hub and i cant figure out why, IS there somthing iam missing, and on that note,

Tryin to Replace a Control Arm, Anything Not Obvious i should know?

The axles are sometimes extremely hard to get out. They get rusted into the hub. Try using an axle-puller or heating it up and banging it out. Thats how I got mine out, took a long time though.

You don't have to remove the axle to replace the control arm. Since there is onlt a lower arm on the fron of a 1G, you unbolt the ball joint and the knuckle, unbolt the sway bar link, and remove the front inner bolt and rear bushing mount. The arm will come off.

Thanks Guys,

On the note of beating the Sh*T out of it LOL that didnt work, all i did was mushroom the Axle out.

and it is still in there, since it got mushroomed out couldnt get the Axle nut back on... So there are liek 5 washers and a cotter pin as an emergency hold down, but since its rusted in so bad it wont move anyway

If I were you I'd try my damndest too get the nut back on it b/c bunch of washer's and a cotter pin isn't very safe IMO.

Hey,

I was just in the same situation, except I have a whole shop full of cool tools and a lift at my disposal :p. Here's how I got it out

If you look at the center of the axle where it runs through the hub, there is an indented hole in it. We have an air tap/chisel, which we put into the indention and ran as someone pulled the hub back from the axle. It took all of 20 seconds for each axle. If you can't get ahold of an air chisel, find something that will fit in that indention, like a normal chisel or tap and beat on it. This will beat the axle out and not mushroom it over.

Hope it helps

Omegis, it was that easy for you because you live in Oklahoma. You don't have to deal with road salt and all that fun stuff.

Jade, try to get that nut back on. Get yourself a thread file and see if you can file it down enough to put it on. It took me 45 minutes with a file to salvage one of my axles. Good luck.

I had the same problem seperating my axle from the hub. Here is what I did.
Remove the whole axle and hub assembly. It will only take about another 10 min to get the ball joints, etc free if you have the right tools. Once the axle is removed set it in the corner of the garage or somewhere that it will stand straight up and down. Like a birdfeeder , but different. Get a can of
PB blaster Do not substitute anything else - wd sucks! Fill the birfeeder ( hub assembly ) with PB. Let it sit overnight. Next day use a hammer and vice or a gear puller worked for me also.
