So I have some rear axles that seem pretty servicable. I would like to rebuild these (clean, grease, & boots), but the dust shields are rusting away. I believe these are simply thin metal pressed onto the joint housing. The FSM treats them like separate parts (marked by the Never-reuse symbol), but the parts catalog lumps this in with the axle-BJ assembly as one unit. Has anyone found a source of these parts to replace individually? Has anyone tried removing these entirely and gotten a lot of miles in this configuration? This is a DD car, not a track special. I don't want to have leaking axle seals in 10k miles.

Got these old dust shields off their joint with a big screwdriver and aa hammer, but only needed light taps. The came off without any more damage than the rust they already have. The axle joint body is getting cleaned up. I’d like to find replacements for the dust shields. The dimensions are written on the paper. AWD lsd 3 bolt.
