awd trans problem

i have a 95 tsi awd.....today i went to work and car seemed fine drove as always......my mom picked it up went to work came back started to drive it back to my work and she says it started feeling like it had no power like it wasnt going anywere so she pulled over into a carls jr and called me i went over tried to move it but it only seems to work in reverse any forward gear wont work.....as soon as i put it in drive it starts to whine and goes nowhere kinda like in neutral but reverse park and neutral seem fine .....is my tranny shot

most likely yes. Have you checked to see if the fluid levels are good? And whens the last time you serviced it? Most likely tranny is gone but if its out of fluid or uber low this can cause same prob.

+1 fluid, It doesnt sound like the tranny is gone, it would of been allot worse, lean more towards dirty fluid, not enough or too little, this is of course your mom wasn't running around racing EM1's

does it move just a little in drive it could be a bad TCU stuck in limp mode, but might need a flush and new fluid how old is the trans fluid, or your end clutches are toast, does it move when cold cause the auto trans could have been overheated.

same deal happend 2y's ago,and the problem's not the tras. it's the center diff. change fluids in the tras. first,if it's doing the same thing change the center diff!!!!!!

Pull the dipstick, if the trans if making a sucking or whining noise the filter is probly stopping up. I'm assuming that this is auto (probably because it seems that everyone else is) fill out profile so that we know what your car is.

^ +1 Blocked filter or very low on fluid. Update after checking fluid.

ok so car got towed to my house just tonite and the tow truck guy said he thinks its the transfer case because my driveway is kinda steep so i put my car in park and normally it would stay but now it rolls down as if its neutral.......what a head ache anyone have ideas on this?

get it if you need it and if it is the correct one.and rebuilding would cost more figure $450 just for parts ,then for someone to do it and do it right. $ 1 k
