wow that makes me want to do that to my tranny ( spare tranny ) ... is there a stronger rear end I can put in to actually make it rwd and not have to worry about breaking it 2 weeks later?

That is a very impressive Burnout... :thumb: Almost makes me want to go RWD just for show... I might have to make me a RWD tranny to trash.. Thanks for the video...

i think it a newer four bolt that did not see 1.6 60ft times or around their every time it was driven would hold up just fine. That diff had about 113,000 miles on it. :dsm:

:thumb: BAD ASS BURNOUT!!!!!!!!!!!! I may try that after I get my Evo MR. I know that it would be nice to see a 2G doin that! :dsm:

the burnout last so long in second gear because i was on the brakes, my stock rear calipers were semi locked up so it was kinda like line lock in a way, it just was kinda hard to start out on the brakes and let out the clutch and be on the gas but it wasn't that bad. :dsm:

Yeah I wonder how a 1G awd would handle if it were properly setup for RWD. Hell, it might even be a good drifting platform!

That creaking noise in the back round is a Crane, their is a gravel pit behind the camera. it is not coming from my car.

As far as the drifting LOL, it was fun, i never did drive it in the rain but when it was dry out even in 4th gear when boost hit about 18 psi it would go sideways, it was nutz. Top end was better also it seemed to pull longer than when it was all wheel drive, Less drive train loss i guess. I was thinking about going RWD after that and maybe putting a beefer rear end in it like a ford 9inch but i do not know how the modified awd tranny would hold up, most likely not that well i think, although it held up fine in this case. But when slicks come into play on the strip I don't think it and the transfer case output shaft could handle the instant torque of a launch. If i was going to go rwd i would most likely mount my engine the other way (front to rear) and find a way to bolt up rwd tranny, like out of a conquest. :dsm:

wouldnt you want the front calipers locked up.. anyways a line lock would allow you to lock the front brakes and the rears would be free to spin...
what would you charge to convert a tranny to RWD like you did....

when they locked up they froze in one place, after the pads wore a little they stopped touching the rear rotors. so when i applied the brakes the rear calipers did not even move, thus causing only the front brakes to do all of the braking. i might say those calipers for future rwd burnouts! :)

do you guys think i should send this to some mags and see if i can win burnout of the month????? haha

You sure can do that, maybe you'll not get selected but chances are good.

although if you have the time to do it you should make a Tech Article on the tranny work you did... really really nice...!!!!

ps: Mad video... simply awesome. :thumb:

Do a tech article! Get some exposure, leach it. I would :D JK. Realy cool video man. I would love to see an article on how to do a RWD setup. Even more evil question. Would it be possible to make a fully switchable from fwd to rwd to awd?

What about a ford 9" and a modified dogbox :D
man can you imagine how much the car would twist?
PLUS
3 words SHORT WHEEL BASE!!!
mustangs make good wheel standers cause they are short.
hmmmmm :thumb:

crazy ass Wisconsin people...... hell yeah!!!! My new engine is going in tonite yea....

Could a front wheel drive tsi do similar?

It is possible to go fwd to awd to rwd with the same tranny but you would have to keep switcing the center diffs, which is not that hard, to switch one in the car it takes me about a 1/2 hour. Unless someone can make a switchable center diff. Hmmm maybe i will look into that. :dsm:
