What's wrong with AWD? It would be cheaper, easier, and much more practical. And it would definitely get the job done as well as RWD.

I agree with this... but for some reason, some people convert their AWD's to RWD's... blows my mind as to why

If I wanted rear wheel drive I CERTAINLY wouldn't start with an eclipse... Might as well go tube chassis and stick a Scirocco body on it... but yet a good number of people do it.

im confused.....how are you guys suggesting a T56, something i missed? its a lot harder to actually swap the tranny in than saying, " why not a T56"

also...as far as wanting rwd: His want for rwd is understandable. Maybe he likes rwd better than awd (wtf), maybe he just wants to do something different, maybe he wants to drift....who the hell knows. Fact is, he wants rwd in a dsm, not a vette, ss, ws6, a dsm....nothing else will satisfy him

My god, even after I stated it people still suggest Starion/Conquests.

He's making god damn 350hp right now. He can easily blow up the tranny in one or two launches. I have read the stories. Don't attempt it.

You have read the stories??
Or you see one blow??
Did it happend to you??
There are allot of stories.......

There is a guy on the DSMTalk forums that has made his own fairly nice adapter plate that will work for a 4G63 block to attach a T-56 to it. ;)

He is going with a GM turbo 400 automatic trans though but he said the bolt pattern is the same and should work. In which case there you go. T56 + 4G63 + new drive shaft and toss a different rear end like ooo I duno some domestic solid rear end under it and bam. Corse I know it's not THAT easy but I would think thats the main components, that are required to do it. The rest as far as I know is just brackets and lining shit up, making the tranny tunnel bigger if need be etc.
