Ok, recently I got my Talon running again after about a month on jackstands due to my ACT 6-puck clutch blowing up on me. I put everything back together along with a fresh oil and tranny fluid+Transfer Case change (MT-90) and made sure everything was bolted up and secure (aside from some trivial stuff that needed to be JDM'd in place). The problem I am faced with now is whenever I put the car into Reverse (ONLY happens when reversing, never when in gear and moving forwards ) and engage the clutch, theres a sound that appears to be coming from the back of the car that consists of a loud thump followed by a tick and becomes more frequent as I go faster in reverse. *Thump-tick-thump-tick*...etc. Ive searched the forums but the closest thing I found was maybe a bad carrier bearing, but for most they only stated having the noise while driving normally and couldnt didnt find any postw where this is occuring only while in Reverse. Ideas?

Should the driveline not move at all when wiggled? And there seems to be alot of play when I jiggle it around. Axels dont have any play so Im assuming my carrier bearings are worn out. What I dont get is that it only makes noises while going in reverse.

Why/ how did your act 6-puck blow up on you? Reason I ask is because I'm thinking about getting one..

Have you fixed your reverse problem yet?

Im still having this issue, its only in reverse and seems to be coming from the rear left area. Here is a sound clip from outside the car backing out of my garage for about 20'.
Reverse Tick 2.m4a

As far as that 6-Puck Clutch, I have no idea what happened to make it split like it did. Some people told me it might have been because I tried to slip the clutch gently whenever I was driving slow as not to make the disc grab as quickly as it does and make the car shake. But I'm now using a street disc and I personally like it a lot more than the 6-puck. Then again I'm not boosting around everywhere I go anymore and hypermile the crap out of it :p

Well after replacing my brake pads in the rear the ticking stopped, the brake howl also stopped too. Found out my right inner brake pad had just a teeeny tiny bit of pad left on it and was almost completely flat, no doubt one attributer to the problem. Put new thermoquiets in and bled the brakes and now its totaly silent when backing up and when braking :)
