I have had my transmission rebuilt about 7 months ago I had a local guy around here do it for me he replaced the bearings because they where pitted, and the syncros because of the wear. He put the stock 80w gear oil back in 4 months later I flushed the transmission and switched to BG syncro shift 1. For about the next month it shifted great nice and smooth now it is started to act funny when going into 3rd. It doesnt grind but it does make a low bumping noise like balky shifting, it only does it in 3rd and did it some in fourth but has stopped acting up in fourth. The car also use to grind going into reverse that is when I took it back to him. He said that the input shaft is still spinning that is why I was grinding in reverse. He said putting it in a forward gear then going into reverse would stop prevent the grind. I have been doing that for about 2 months now no grinds in reverse. But still get the problem in 3rd with the "balky shifting". I took it back and he said that input shaft is still spinning that is what is causing the problem in 3rd as well. It seems that if I shift quickly going from 2nd to 3rd or from 4th to 3rd while my rpms are still high I get the bumping noise but if I hold the clutch in and let the rpms drop down to 1k while crusing and shift into 3rd the shift is nice and smooth no bumping. I am kinda lost on the and really want to know what is going on with the input shaft. The guy said he wouldnt fix it because he didnt replace it the input shaft and I furbished my own clutch ACT 2600 that it wouldnt cover under warnenty. Would you guys help me out here i have no idea what is going on with the input shaft. Thanks

Let me state it like this. What would cause the input shaft to still spin when I have the clutch petal to the floor. I am 90% sure I can troubleshoot it if I know whats causing the spinning. Thanks

Anyone know what would cause the input shaft to still spin while I have the clutch petal in?

I didn't read your novel, but to answer the quick questions: a warped flywheel, warped clutch disc, springs popping out of the clutch disc, leaking master or slave cylinders, worn clutch fork or pivot ball.
Or simply not adding a 1.5mm shim under the pivot ball.
Make sure the clutch engages a couple inches off the floor. If it engages right off the floor you're not getting enough travel to fully disengage the clutch.

I dont think it would be a warped flywheel I had it resurfaced when tranny was rebult. As for the clutch disc warping it could be but the clutch is a ACT 2600 never heard of that plate warping. I am leaning to pivotball or fork problems I dont think there is a shim of 1.5mm under the pivotball. The clutch engages almost right off the floor kinda hard to tell i am guesing about a inch off the floor. I dont see any leaks in the slave or master cyclinders.
