AWD Swap now fuel gauge isnt working, but low gas light comes on.

I just finished putting the rear subframe and gas tank into my 95 eclipse, currently I am pulling my rear end though because this is my daily driver and I had a set back on the front parts I needed. But as of right now I am having an issue that I have noticed others having as well, my fuel gauge is not working at all. I have yet to hear about what is going on with my car though so I thought i would explain.

Although my fuel gauge is not working at all, the needle is as far down as it can get, my low.gas light is coming on. I do not understand how the low gas lift could come on but the.fuel gauge will not work at all. I checked all the wiring already and my car has been full of gas 3 times now, once over full because the gasket for the fuel tank was bad.

If someone could please help me, I would really appreciate it.

That was what I used as a guideline for my whole swap. There is only two solid yellow wires that run over there, one has power that runs through it, which I was assuming was for abs, the other doesn't, because I was assuming current runs through that to the gauge, but I have tried them both and neither of them will make the needle of the gas gauge move. It was working fine before, and the low gas light comes on when I am almost out of gas. I don't know what else to check.

By the drivers side sending unit coming from the wiring harness is a yellow wire. Cut and ground it and the fuel level guage should go to full. If not the guage could be bad. If it does the guage most likely is fine. Now your problem is either your awd wiring harness is not wired up to fwd wiring correctly or you have one or two bad sending units. Double check your wiring and then pull the sending units and test with a multimeter. Set it to ohms and the resistance should be between 2-50 ohms (I believe although you should google search the exact numbers because I may be wrong) at the floats highest and lowest position respectively. If not that then the sending unit is bad.

On the stock setup for AWD there are 2 senders in the tank that are connected in series - one on drivers side, one on passenger side. The fuel gauge goes to the drivers side first in a yellow wire. This is the one if grounded should make the gauge read full (when key on - takes a minute). The drivers side then goes to the passenger side in a yellow/black wire. If grounded, the gauge will read something (between halfway and full) depending on the drivers side sender position. The passenger side then has a black wire to ground. If either this black wire is not grounded or the yellow/black between the 2 senders in not connected, the gauge will not work.

Well I found out the gauge is working, I grounded the yellow wire and gas gauge goes up. I will need to look at the wiring again though, I thought there was a yellow/blue wire in there as well, maybe this is where I am getting messed up. If there is yellow/blue wire where does it go? I had to rewire my fuel pump today because it stopped working. I ended up wiring it to the battery through fuse and relay. It seems like I am having some wiring issues going on there so hooefully I just have it wired wrong, since fuel sending units are almost impossible to find and the dealer wanted $600 for one.

I checked all that and my driverside sending unit is working fine but when I hook up the black/yellow wire to passenger unit the gauge stops working. There is also a yellow/blue wire on the passengar side sending unit also though, what is that for? For now if I just ran the driverside sending unit, would half way on the gauge be empty and 3/4 tank be half a tank?

The yellow with blue strip goes to your low fuel light wire, it is beige and should have 12v present with the key in the on position.
The yellow with blk strip goes to you fuel level sending unit on your passenger side.
Black is ground.

Do you have a awd interior fuel pump harness to accomadate the dual hump awd fuel tank?

All I have is the plugs with wires, I'm making the harness. I figured out my problem I think. I think the passenger side sending unit is bad. Every thing seems to work fine up until that point.
