air/fuel gauge not working properly, i thought it was the way it was wired but i went through and rewired it all and it still doesn't work right. Its a autometer phantom series, and what its doing is it won't go past lean its stays on the first three lean LEDS. and yes im letting it worm up and yes its hooked up properly. so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Is it possible you got a gauge that reads wideband o2 voltage... 0-5volts and have it hooked up to a narrowband stock o2 sensor... 0-1volts.

well the gauge is reading lean not rich, as a matter of fact i know im running a lilttle rich.

And no it doesn't read wideband voltage because i had it hooked up before and it worked properly.

Had it hooked up before??? Not to be a smart ass, but you think maybe the insides of the gauge might have gone bad due to where or how it was stored? Just something to consider...

better to be a smart ass than a dumb ass.

But yes, he is probably right... Something may be wrong with the gauge itself. Try to hook it up to a different car. If it doesn't work, it's most likely the gauge, if it does work, it could be a bad ground wire, or maybe your O2 is on its way out...

well when it wasnt connected it was still in the car, but as far as the gauge not working i was thinking that was the problem originally just wanted to get some opinions.

best way is to wait for your buddy with the same car to go to work, borrow his keys, hook it up and see if it still does the same thing, return his car with the tank near E and tell him thanks, you got all your cd's out of it =P

haha yeah that be nice but my buddy has a 240sx with an sr20.

So put it in there... drift a bit... and return it with no tread left on the tires =P
