I'd post this in the AWD swap thread but I'm still restricted to the newbie forum.
I've got my AWD junker stripped to the bone, the subframe is out.
First question: anybody ever fabricate a gas tank shield?? My bad if there's a thread on it, I searched kinda quickly.
My shield is shot, huge holes in it, and I doubt I'll be able to purchase just a shield. Should I just go with a fuel cell when I get around to doing the swap? I'm trying to keep cost down, and I could fabricate my own pretty easily, I've got a few friends who know how to weld and I dabble in it.
Second question: has anybody fabricated mounts for the driveshaft hangers (the studs)? I've got very limited time and I don't think I'll be able to get them out without mangling them, and the exhaust hangers were already cut to get the exhaust out. Once again I can weld, so hanging the exhaust is no issue, the driveshaft hangers are what I'm concerned with.
If I can fabricate them myself I won't bother with removing them from the shell.
