Hey everyone, I'm new to these forums, i would post this in the classifieds section but this is my first post and i cannot post a thread in that section, I bought a 98 GSX for my first car while I was in ontario working for the summer it had 84,XXX miles, i paid 3500$ and seemed to be in pretty good shape it needed bodywork, and a paintjob, the car was a salvage and the pervious owner dented the driver side fender pulling out of his garage, after driving 10 mins from where i picked the car up coolants lines busted *Doh* so i got it towed the and they replaced a few coolant lines, and had to rewire my headlights back to stock because some idiot wired the HID's wrong and blew one of the ballast's and it needed 2 rear tires. all together it cost me about 350$, 3 days later i left to drive from Toronto back home to Newfoundland which is about 3000km away, i managed to make it all the way home which zero problems.. until i made it 5 minutes from my house, when i put it off the road.. i was going around a turn and i had my window down because i was smoking a ciggerette and as i was going around the turn, a map that was on my dash fell on my lap, i had the ciggerette in my mouth when i took a quick glace down at the map and when i did i guess the wind from the window took the tip of the ciggerette off and the cherry of the smoke landed in the fold of the map, i didnt even notice til about 3 seconds later when smoke started hitting me in the face, so i looked down and the map caught on fire i panic'd alittle and screamed AHH SHIT and grabbed the map and threw it out the window, this all happened while i was going around medium curved turn, i was going 80-90 kmh, so when i looked at the road again i was heading straight off the right side of road, all 4 tires were already on the shoulder, so i had no choice but to cut the wheel to the left, all 4 wheels skidded up across the road about 100ft and I went out in the left side ditch and beat up my front bumper, left quarter, left taillight, rear bumper and sideskirts.(looks like shes gunna get the bodywork and paintjob quicker then i thought...:( ) the car didnt even make it to my drive way.. and now im in search for 97-99 rear bumper and sideskirts but theres absolutely no DSM parts around here. So if anybody knows where I can get my hands on them, could they please let me know.
Thank, Levi

"Pervious Owner" Might be how the car was previously F*cked.

Most of the parts mentioned shouldn't be too expensive. Shipping PITA!.

Rock Auto for the bumpers (f&R)
Classifieds section for the skirts.
And believe it or not the most expensive Item to repair.....the fender, so look for a partout (classifieds) or a junkyard.

If your car is the one pictured it looks more like a 96 and back not a 98? At any who if your looking to a 97' rear bumper you may as well look into headlights and a front bumper from a 97' as well and depending on if it suits your taste and have cash to burn, a rear spoiler.....You can get replacement body parts pretty cheap brand new if you scower the net....Believe it or not I picked up a new bumper for my 97'GS for less than $300...you'll still have to get it painted but you'll have to paint it anyway from the sound of it. Its either buy em new or try your hand at the auto recyclers and salvage yards which, aside from being time consuming and a bit of a pain is pretty hit and miss if your in an area that doesn't have a good selection to choose from...
