AWD on car dolly?

Can you tow an AWD 92 Talon on a car dolly? 2 wheels will be on the ground and 2 wheels on the dolly.

Just unhook the rear driveshaft and zip tie it out of the way. You'll be fine.

^ ^ ^ If you don't have both ends off the ground, the driveline must be disconnected.

You're still better-off with a flatbed trailer.

I had a PM from a fellow member. Here is what I found out and why I asked the question. I towed a 92 AWD from the rear on a dolly. I never gave it a thought since I never towed an AWD car before. Problem is that the car towed fine. I went about 25mph and watched the car the whole time. If the tranfer was ok then I should have never been able to tow the car this way? This is true is it not?

The VC's not in the transfer, it lives in the transmission.
It takes about fifteen feet of towing with one end locked up to kill it, at about seven miles an hour. From the sound of yours, it was already dead. You should have had some serious chattering from the tires as the fronts tried to drive the rears off the dolly.

The VC is the last of your problems (they are pretty cheap and easy to replace), you now have a ruined center diff... I am amazed that it didn't lock-up on you. Usually that is what happens with-in 1/4 mile of such towing.

Dealer is probably the last place you want to get one of those... Most DSM'ers have 1-2 kicking around and they should part with one for around $25.

I almost forgot. I checked out the rear and everything is fine, so it must be the VC.
