Popping on awd

hey guys,

I got a 1g talon tsi awd not too long ago. It feels like the front end pops 1 good time when I accelerate from a stop, it's as soon as the front has ANY torque on it, the front pops one good time. Any ideas? I'll I could think of would be u joints.

If it also pops when you turn it's your CV axles. Replace or rebuild, your choice.

Ok so I should jack the car up and turn the wheel to see if thats the problem

Pop or a clunk? Mine did that a while ago, turns out it was the wheel bearing/hub assembly. Would be a good idea to check for play.

Jack up the car and turn the steering wheel, spin the wheels by hand, turn the steering wheel the other way and spin the wheels some more. Listen carefully while you spin the wheels. That will give you a good idea where the noise is coming from.

I would say its more of a clunk... the guy that had the car before me seemed like he was pretty hard on it and im sure he gave it hell launching it. Hub assembly sounds like an expensive fix.

To check for play in the bearing/hub assembly, jack up the car and safely support it. Grab the top and bottom of the wheel, shake it back and forth. If there is any play then you will know.

If it is the hub assembly, price is the least of your worries if they are anything like mine.
