awd fuel level senders

I bought a car that's been sitting and the gas has gone bad. The pump wouldn't work so I pulled it good thing I had a spare 190 then discovered rusty coffie grain looking crap all over the pump, hanger and level sender. Is there any way to save them? The stuff is coming off the hanger but what about the sender? Can I take it apart and clean it?

I recently encountered the same problems, car sat for awhile & would't start. I pulled the gas tank out & discovered rusty fuel pump & white scaly stuff on the level sender. I changed the pump & carefully cleaned the level sender. There is a small metal box on that sender, it had a lot of that white scaly stuff inside of it, I gently tapped on it with my fingers until it came out. When I cleaned my tank a lot of brown sandy looking sediment came out of it & the gas smelled awful. Also, I replaced all hoses on the tank, which were bad, including a cracked check valve. However, my gauge does not give a reading because I only put 2 gals. of gas just to get her started (car just sits in my garage).
