Ok so I have a 93 Eclipse GST and I was wondering if an AWD engine would bolt up and fit right in without making my car AWD?

The car I planned on getting the engine from is a 93 Talon TSi AWD. This is my only car and I need it fixed pronto thanx

Your FWD has a bad motor?

If you are swapping a 4g63 engine from an AWD donor to your FWD, that will not make it an AWD. You would have to swap over the AWD transmission, axles, rear diff, etc. and that's a whole different story.

Just swap your FWD flywheel and starter to the donor engine and take off the AWD flywheel, assuming they are 5 speed cars.

Yes i dont want to go awd i want to stay fwd so all i would have to do is take the flywheel off my blown engine and put it in. The awd engine correct

Thanks u guys r awsome im glad dsmers stick together ihave owned so many of thes cars and kno so little about them LOL. Trans shield and inspection plate?

Oh ok i got it. Another quick question. The engine thats in my car has a cracked piston would it be easeyer to just change pistons or just do the swap

Just swap the motor's and rebuild/build the motor currently in it with the cracked piston, who knows the condition of the cylinder wall (depending on how the piston cracked) If you can; do a compression test on the awd motor

Ill have the ppl at the shop do it the new engine is suppised to only have like 80000 original miles but u kniw how shady people can be

check out the new motor the best you can before installing it into the car. There a lot easier to work on when there not jammed in that engine bay. I never trust anyone with their claimed mileage. I bought a car once with 65k on it then did a carfax and that thing had 165k on it.
