My house is starting to look like a 90s mitsubishi dealership puked all over it, but I'm not really complaining. So welcome in a car i've been trying to get for a few years now- 1989 Dodge colt with an AWD swap. Roughly 10 years ago I helped bring this car down to arizona from vegas, we ended up pulling the engine out to swap into the owners galant after he trashed a couple of engines and this sat with no engine from then on. It's changed ownership a few times amongst locals I knew but no one really had the know-how or desire to actually reassemble the car. This picture was taken 10 years ago in front of my shop when we first brought it down.
I actually got 2 colts out of this ordeal, one of them was a base model fwd I owned 7 years ago. The previous owner picked up the awd car while I had the fwd, the awd car was always gutted and my buddy happened to have 318IS e30 at the shop he worked at with a blown up engine that I wanted. He agreed to trade me the e30 for my fwd car so that he could swap all the interior into the awd car and make one nice car. This worked out big time in my favor with the price of e30's skyrocketing now and I ended up LS swapping the e30 and have road raced it the last 5 years. Fast forward to now, my buddy moved to texas 4 years ago and the cars sat in his old employers back yard untouched since we traded. I've been asking to buy the cars back for a while now and finally got the phone call to go get them. They are significantly worse in shape than the last time i saw them. The back driver quarter window was broken out on the AWD car and the interior was filled to the windows with parts and junk, couple that with the front windows being rolled all the way down and the AWD car was a rolling biohazard. What little interior it has was full of mouse and cat urine, the roof had a giant dent in it from someone jumping on it, and the windshield on both cars was now cracked from what appeared to be someone smacking the wiper arms down on them, they were both buried pretty heavily in the dirt and I almost turned away when I saw them. For any CSM guys you may notice the first picture has a nice OEM JDM front bumper on the car, that was supposed to be included with the car when I picked them up but it seems to have disappeared and while everyone can tell me they remember it being very valuable, no one can tell me what happened to it. If I had known this prior to picking the cars up I probably would've left them seeing as how that was really one of the only valuable pieces the car had left.
Here we are the day after picking them up. Luckily for me I have a buddy with a big piece of land and a car addiction on par with my own that lets me store the shitboxes at since my HOA would likely burn my house down if they saw this sitting out front of it.
I actually like the OZ rally wheels on this car, so they may stay for a bit. I've had FN01RC's off my galant on it before and they look really good as well but I haven't found a replacement wheel for the galant to rob them from so for now these will stay.
Spent a few hours last weekend clearing the car out. My coworker wanted the fwd car but it's looking like it'll just become a parts donor for the awd car at this point. We plan to get it running at least to bomb around in.
I just need a starion/conquest and a pajero evo at this point and I'll be satisfied with my car collection, so if someone has a clean south west startquest roller or complete that wants to trade for a 2gb AWD talon I'd consider trading my white 2gb car for one
