Awd Axles in an FWD

I tried to search but i didn't see anything.

I have been told that if I replace out fwd axles for those out of an awd 95 I have sitting around I will I will get rid of most of my torque steer that I currently have in my 97 fwd.

Anyone have any comment or thoughts on this?

For one thing the AWD axles wont fit your FWD tranny. Two torque steer has nothing to do with axles. Hope that answers your quetion.

I fail to see your point. Having both axles equal-length still does not remedy torque steer. The linkages and bearings in the intermediate shaft, and the shaft itself, still have torque-output delays.

It goes back to the problem of having the front wheels do all the work. Any time the tire contact patches are unequal, you'll get torque steer. Under cornering, for instance, one wheel has more weight transferred to it and—depending on suspension and steering geometry—might have a differently shaped contact patch. Another time this happens is when each tire has varying grip, as in wet or wintry conditions.

Yes you can use the awd axles in your car. And from what most people have said it DOES cut down on torque steer.It will not remove it completely but it will help. If you do this you will need to replace the tranny axle seals. They must be swapped for the awd seals.

Trust me you cant use the AWD axles on your FWD tranny. The inner axle shaft diameter is diffrent FWD-AWD.You can't even mate the two axles by useing FWD cv joint's. They are completely different i speak from experience. It just won't fit the tranny.

*EDIT* What i suggested applies only to a 2g DSM...... Such mod maybe possible on a 1g DSM but, i really cant say for sure.*EDIT*
