I was just wondering how much and average rebuild costs for a 4g63 with like weisco rods and pistons new crank and bearings too.

We need more info.

Are you going to be running higher compression? Are you going to be running high boost? Are you going to be running Nitrous? What are your horsepower goals?

Most important thing of all, DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH. The info is out there because thing has been covered numerous times.

I was thinking mabey a stroker kit. my goal with the car would be 350- 400 HP i am aventualy getting a 16g from my buddy but i want to make the engine relyabe first

you dont need a stroker for 350-400 a nice evo16g with bolt on, cams, smim and a good tune can get you there no prob on the 2.0

Ok heres the deal my engine has 134,000 miles on it. I dont kno how hard the people beat on it before me this is my everyday car. I dont want to spend money on some bolt on mods that mite kill my motor i would rather rebuild and kno that it is reliable. even if it was almost a stock rebuild.

do a compression test that will tell you where your at

A couple things:

1) no matter how little it seems it will cost with the parts involved, you'll always spend more.

2) if you're rebuilding, you're also going to be buying new accessories, such as waterpumps, oil pumps, bolts, etc. It i

3) Figure a minimum of $2k to do it. No matter what you already have, and how cheap you can get parts, It will eventually climb to $2000 dollars. Just happens.

4) You cannot assemble the motor yourself. Call it stereotyping whatever, but if you can't type out a complete sentence in the English language, I am going to doubt your ability to do the extremely detailed and precision measuring/clearancing that is required to build an engine.

5) You're typically better off waiting until the motor lets go, and saving up while you're driving it, than you are preemptively rebuilding the engine.

I've got the same question here and asking it in a different way..........What have other people paid for their engine rebuilds from start to finish in particular a 2.3 stroker with eagle rods JE pistons getting the head flow benched all new valvetrain w/ fuel pump, water pump, new cams, cam gears, pulleys everything doin it themselves i know i've looked at packages and found all the parts and can add them up i'm not a complete idiot! but what have other people done and how much have they ended up into it from start to finish?

Right on all accounts.

I am building my motor right now as it is. I am going to do it right by building the entire thing outside of the car instead of doing the head now, intake manifold next month etc.

Pretty much, for the original poster, decide what you want and then go out and price the things you need, set up your budget and start saving. The more insane the setup, the higher its cost is going to be.

hell, I just spent $900 on a freaking head for the new build. From the looks of it, I wont have my engine built until june or so now and I was shooting for the end of next month.

Here is what I am looking at for pricing.

$1300 2.4L bottom end built or so
$0900 1g CnC ported head ( all new parts ) ( purchased )
$0175 ARP studs and 4g64 head gasket ( purchased )
$0650 Intake manifold
$0750 Misc things ( Oil Pump, Water Pump, Knock sensor, bolts, studs, cam gears, timing belt, 1g coil pack )
----------
$3750
----------
This is going to be the basic build. I dont really need the intake manifold because I do have a 1g one now which could drop a ton off my build price. If things work out then cool, if not then well, I have a backup already.

Additions
$1300 gt35r
$0350 Injectors
$0500 Bigger FMIC
----------
$2150
----------
This is what I am going to be adding at a later date

Pretty much, I have everything lined up on what I need to do. Now, its up to me to spend as little money as possible to get this done.

I've got a transmission on the way already, it will be here friday. Then the transmission thats currently in the car is going to be rebuilt as well as a back up.

i got a new head, pistons, rods full rebuild for just under 4000. but it depends on if you want a race conditioned motor or just a powerful street motor like mine. good luck though i love it when people get raw horse power from there internals and not bolt-ons.

Your stock rods and pistons lasted for that mileage, and are good for probably twice that so long as you don't lose lubrication and seize a bearing -which is what it usually takes to kill a DSM rod. Why rush off to pay for aftermarket rods and pistons? Are you going to be taking this thing to a strip twice a month?
