I have been doing research to increase my Avengers performance at first I was going to simply turbocharge my v6 but didnt know how much boost I could put in or with my automatic transmission could even handle boost. I was told it couldn't that is need a manual conversion. Is this true? How much boost can I put in? Also would it be simpler to swap in a 2.9 turbo Volvo engine?

A turbo 2.9 Volvo engine.... Where'd you get that idea? Do you have a knack for custom fab?

Lol those V6's can barely handle their own power and you want to turbo it? Good luck. No swap would be simple with that car but if your heart is set on making power with it, any motor and trans can be built with enough money.

Turbocharging the stock motor is fairly rare, to the point where I can find very few cars that have ever been turbocharged. Same goes for supercharging.

Swapping it out for a 3.0 mitsu motor is a lot more common and you can find quite a bit of information on it. Plus the 6g72 came turboed stock on some models.

And yes you would want to look for factory turbo 6g72. Some guys claim they were able to swap it in with the stock mounts as well, however I couldn't find any real proof of that being true or not. You would still need fuel mods and tuning to get it to run. The transmission would be another issue as well.

Here is a thread I just found on the swap.

I would also like to mention you wouldn't have much room to fit a turbo.

But if you want more power a 3.0 swap would be your best bet.

seems like the 2.4 turbo out of the PT cruiser would be an easier swap/

Nah would not work anyway.
The Volvo t6 turbo motor would not fit because it's an inline 6 bolted in transversely. That would make it too wide and very complex to install. He is
Better off getting a v6 turbo motor from a 3000gtvr4
