autometer mech boost gauge install Q...

Just received my 3303 mechanical boost gauge yesterday. Have a Q regarding the install.

The gauge comes with 1/8" vinyl tube. Can I change this to 1/8" flex rubber vaccum hose? Seems easier to connect that way and the tube is more flexible. Is one better than the other?

I don't know if the fitting will allow you to hook up rubber hose and have it fit tightly with no leaks, if so go for it.

I would just use what they gave you. The rubber hose will most likely leak and you readings will be off. I cant really see how you would get it to fit as tightly as the cruch wahser that they use on the vinyl tubing.

Well I replaced mine with rubber tubing so I'll tell you what I did. I cut about 6-8inches of the plastic tubing and forced it into the end of the rubber tubing then wrapped it in electrical tape to where there wasn't a chance of air leaking out and then put the brass fitting on the plastic tubing.

Works fine for me.
