Alright.. well I bought a brand new Autometer boost gauge and was going to start installing it. I noticed that it says to put the ferrule over the tube.. but the ferrule won't fit over the tube.. I'm puzzled.. followed the instructions to a T and it's making me feel like a complete idiot.

The little ferrule is tough to get on the line, it is a compression fitting that may even require you to cut a piece of the line off so you have a nice flush edge to slide it over. I am also assuming you bought a new sealed unit that has not been tampered with correct?

Yes sir.. Alright well I'll try it again. It's messing with my brain man! ahha

I think this is what you are referring to? I used a lil dawn soap to help mine on there FYI.

i kept the ferrule in side used a socket at the bottom pushed and twisted , and it went in ...Also remember one side of ferrule is smaller then the other side ..Also the pos platic hose bends/kink's easy then you have to buy more ..I ended up changing the fitting so i could use the rubber hose instead

I'd have to agree with using a rubber line. It's way more flexible and won't spring back into its coil if you loose grip on it during installation. It probably handles heat a little better too, and won't break when kinked.

Not disagreeing just never had a need for it take your time with it and do it right the nylon works fine. I have used them since 98 in all my boosted applications with no issues, but everyone has their own pref so use what works best for you. Tho if you go with a barb n hose I recommend silicone vacuum line FYI.

I literally can't get it on.. I even tried burning the end.. sticking it through grabing the pliers to pull it through and the plastic just broke..

Burning it will expand it... Not good try cutting the tube on an angle like a hypo needle and feeding it thru. You will need to cut off all the expanded burnt parts first tho LOL

Perhaps I'll do the rubber hose then.. seems as if it would be easier.
With using a rubber hose, what fitting has to be changed?

Tried that already

What exactly will I need to replace this hose?... I'll go pick it up at Autozone sometime today.

keep it in the fitting , don't try putting it in the ferrule while its out..Use a socket on the bottom to hold it ..Twist it while pushing it in ..One side of the ferrule is bigger then the other side

1/8" barb that threads on and enough vacuum line to go thru the firewall to the fpr/intake vacuum line where you will need an 1/8th" t fitting. If more than 15lbs of boost you may want to zip strip them on just my .02

Woooooot I got it with the plastic tubing.. I plan on using rubber here soon.. I just wanted to see this thing in action! First mod on my car so I'm a tad bit excited.... ahaha.. does anyone have a good guide to use for install.. I have found many with conflicting information.

I'm following this guide RRE VDO Boost Gauge Installation Instructions
EDIT: Figured it out.. Thanks guys :)
