Just got an EGT gauge and I already know where I am going to install it, #1 runner about half way between turbo and head. But When i look at the manifold (2g, removed from the car) and the probe it looks as if the probe is going to be too close or touching the bottom of the inside of the manifold. This will cause inaccurate tempretures and may not allow it to fit properly. Before I get it tapped I wanted to get some input from the community, if this has happened to anyone or a better way to install the probe without running into problems and ruining my manifold. Thanks, :thumb:

it doesnt necessarily have to be tapped into the manifold. You might want to consider the o2 housing

When I installed my autometer EGT probe I welded the bung to my 1G manifold. Becuase the bung is so tall the temperature probe will not touch the bottom of the manifold.:thumb:

Yes like Karma said. Weld in a bung. I had the same issue with mine and what ended up happening was the it melted the tip of the probe just a little so now its at a bend. My temperatures weren't effected at all but the probe was bent at the tip. If i had to do it over again i would have welded in a bung. I also think that you can get better readings at the manifold then you do the O2 sensor housing. Someone correct me if i'm wrong on that. Hope this helps
