hey guys, im just wondering how much would it cost me.. if i changed my automatic to a manual.
im driving a 96 eclipse gs-t

I Say keep your automatic, and get a shift kit, stall for your automatic transmision, 600 bucks for a decent conversion kit then the labor, thats going to rape your wallet into submision.

Mitsubishi dealership quoted me 4500.

Local places will do it as low as 2500, but you dont know how the quality would be.

Do it yourself under a grand.

IPT said contact them by phone to discuss it, never had a chance to.

I have a n/t but the prices should be close.

And I am going to have to say automatics are not bad, I kinda like mine, dont need to shift all the time, especially when driving for hours.

One more edit, you may be better off selling and buying one with a manual already in it to avoid costs and labor

I always wanted to convert mine too, but i say put a shift kit in it and a stall or sell it and get a 5spd

oh and theres a list of all the parts you would need in the tech articles

I totally agree, however i would like to add grab it by the honches and hump it into submission..

oh and another question....if i do the rite mods and all that.. can i get my automatic to run 300hp?

quick question about the automatics, sorry to steal your thread, I know the M/T's have a higher rev limit, and our A/T's are at like 6500RPMs or somthing, is there a way to mod our TCU's or switch ECU's with the M/T's to get a higher rev and have the TCU not freak at that high of a RPM?

LMFAO thats the proper word for labor costing LOL

I just completed an auto to manual swap on my car and really it was not hard at all only time consuming. Wait until your auto burns out and believe me it will in the mean time find all the parts you need for the swap and get them ready. If you have all the parts you can do the swap in 2 days if you know what you are doing and not rushing. Buy a dealer manual off ebay and memorize it. Also dont waste your time on a stall torque converter it will make city driving horrible and the shift kit which i had also at times makes the car shift to hard and will burn out your stock tranny even faster. I went through 3 used auto trannies on 92 tsi before i said i got enough and i will never in my life buy another auto dsm.

As for cost to do the swap if you get all the parts at junkyards a used tranny tranny from someone possibly rebuild it get an act 2100 clutch etc you can do the entire thing anywhere from 1000-1500 for parts really depends.
