I have had my 1996 Eagle Talon ESi automatic for almost a year now, I have all the basic mods(cold air, exhaust etc.) Of course I beat Civics but with my 5-spd friends I can keep up but with Automatic I dont have as much control on the shifting aspect. So should I keep workin on the Automatic Talon or Scrap it and look for a new Talon/Eclipse?

You always have the option to build up your automatic tranny! :) Yes, you can make auto's powerful too, just have to keep them cool. Up to you really.

I got a, (just like my name) 95 Eclipse RS automatic, and it sucks. Personally, I would sell the Talon for as much as you can milk it for, than buy the 5 spd. And go with what VTRICCO said, AWD. You'll be beating civics and your friends, hopefully.
Or, if you are madly in love with the Talon you have now, you could always do the auto to manual swap. Get a turbo kit, and keep the car. Tha latter is much more expensive of course.

i have my automatic TSI AWD and while the 5speeds have better gearing, for straight line action, i must prefer my automatic. Then again this is most a function of the turbo engine. Without the turbo engne, there is too many disadvantages.

Honestly, i love my tsi awd a/t. It's wonderful as a DD and now there's TONS of ways to make them just as quick as 5spd's.

IPT is your best friend. But honestly, a/t and NA isn't doing you much good. I'd clean it up and see if you could pick up a 1g turbo. Unless you are attached to the car, then beef up the a/t and turbo it!

Well, before this probably gets closed, I'd just like to say that it's a decesion YOU are going to have to make, not anyone on this forum. Which ever you like better. Both can be fast, both have there advantages, and both have their disadvantages.

like a lot of ppl say its up to you...me i have a 98 gsx and its AT yea at times i wish it was a 5speed but everytime i brake boost for some strange reason i change my mind :thumb: theres nothing wrong with AT but if your gonna keep it AT boost the damn thing youll love it:cool:
