I just bought a 1993 Eagle Talon Tsi which had the swap done from the previous owner. I bought the car non functioning and now I need to hook the shifter cables back up. When I do the car will not shift right, it binds and will not let me go from left to right. Is this just an adjustment issue or did the previous owner buy the wrong parts?

Ill email the pics in the morning. And the years are unknown, can you get the year of the Trans' ? The difference is 90 then 91-94 right?

That I can't be 100% sure, however, the 90-91 shifter & shifter cables are different from the 92-94.

In AWD trim the 90 is different from the 91. I'm not sure about the 92-94.

The Transmission has a small flat spot on the top towards the front a little bit. Its usually hidden under the lower radiator hose. The VIN number from the car it came from is on that small plate. Copy the number and paste it here and I can get the year. However I can not identify the year from which the shift cables or shifter by looking at it. So you're best bet would be buy the same year cables/shifter when I get back with you on the year that the tranny came from Mitsubishi Graveyard

Ok. The shift cables are correct, the previous owner had the bracket on backwards. So thats fixed. Newt snag, the previous owner put the clutch in backwards. So now I got to pull the transmission.

Well its not a problem for most cars, but like my VG powered Nissan 200sx the clutch has labeled sides ie "To Flywheel". I verified this through the local Autozone. The clutch disengages but not enough to shift gears. My brother had a 90 Talon with the 2.0 N/A and his friend and himself did the same thing.

There are many MANY points of failure in the clutch line. I myself, had installed a ACT2600. And the clutch would not let go. I replaced the Master Cylinder, slave cylinder, installed a SS clutch line, used a extended slave rod cylinder. The problem would come and go. It wasn't until I replaced the Master Cylinder the 4th time, that I noticed the culprit was a lose clutch pedal. I'm not saying it needed to be adjusted, I'm saying the whole thing wobbled like a fat women on a trampline.

I put a nut between the slave cylinder rod and the the piston in the slave cylinder. Worked like a charm.... at least until I get around to replacing the pedal assembly.
