will 10w 30 motor oil work for the studs? or can i use a moly based assembly lube, I lost the tube of arp moly

I used regular oil when I installed the head bolt kit on my car, but either one should work fine.

The torque specs are different (higher) when using 10w30 oil instead of the moly lube...make sure you double-check that.

For motor oil torque them to 90ft lbs final, and with arp lube turque them to 65-70 FT LBS.

I just installed my ARP's, and the instructions that came with my kit said 81ft/lbs with ARP moly lube. Where did you get those numbers?

These are the #s I got from other DSMers that have called ARP. The 81 FT lbs you see is the Absoute max you can go. The more pressure you put on the stud causes the block to distort and could cause HG failure. 70 FT lbs is the magic number with ARP lube. If you do a serch on this subjust like I did you will find more info.

I too called ARP personally, and that's what they recommended to me (81ft/lbs). If that would "cause the block to distort and cause HG failure" then why woul d a good knowledgeable company like ARP recommend it?

And I'm pretty sure I've read at least 90% of the ARP-related threads on these boards.

Why did you ask then  Dont worry about it like I said.
