I know that with the stock motor mounts the "hood" on the front engine mount has to be trimmed off for the head to sit flush on the block with ARP studs but I was wondering if this is necessary if you have poly mounts. Thank you.

Arp studs for what part of the car help me with the hood part of it, I have inserts and haven't trimmed anything at all. You mean the head studs in to the block?

If it will not sit flush with ARP studs, it will not sit flush with stock bolts either.

The Head, gasket and block all index the same way with bots or studs.

Now there is a PS bracket that needs to be moved so the head can be pulled, it hangs up on the exhaust stud, so some grind some clearance on that.

Some just remove that bracket and cut the mount. Look at the AV mount, only use the 2 bolts on the timing side.

That "bracket" you are pointing to if I'm looking at it right is actually a heat shield for the power steering pump. I have seen them on several 1gs. It simply can be removed by removing the lower left side power steering bolt (one in the bottom of your pic) then there is a tiny bolt on the back side that allows the heat shield to be removed. If that is what your asking. I have all 4 of my motor mounts poly and I have arp head studs with no issues.

Look at the vfaq about the arp install and what it says about clearing the motor mount. That's what im asking

You can also remove the 4 bolts, just be sure to put the bracket back inbetween the block and coolent line while installing the head

EDIT: Doesnt matter what MMs you have that "hood" get in the way
