So I've got the front, rear, and timing side mounts in and bolted up... the transmission mount is bolted to the transmission, and now I've got to put those 4 bolts through the wheel well to get the trans mount on. Problem is, it's about an inch or half an inch off and for the life of me I cannot budge it into place. Is there any kind of secret way to do this, or should I do a different one last. Throw me a bone here people I need some help.

I never tighten any of the bolts until I get them all started. It makes it a lot easier if you have some play in the mounts.

It was also a pain for me. Took me about an hour.
Just put the bolt in the rear mount then in the passenger side mount then the front one. Do not tighten any, just put the bolts through. Then using the jack to move the motor around try the last mount on the drivers side. I had to use a prybar on the inside of the mount to push the motor toward the passengers side. PIA but worth it in the long run.

Also inside of car was very shakey for the first 50 miles or so, now feels alot better and perfroms great.

My experience was exactly the same! :thumb:

Thats one of the first things my dad ever told me when he handed me a wrench. Dont ever tighten anything down until you have all of your bolts or screws in the holes.

Well, first thing besides righty tighty, lefty loosey.

awesome, looks like I get to loosen those up now... is there any "better" order to put the transmission mount on? Should I bolt it to the fenderwell and then try to jimmy the screws in to the trans (I'm leaning towards no since the bellhousing is aluminum and could strip if there's too much force while tightening the bolt) or should it be bolted to the trans (like it is now) and then screwed into the firewall? i'll try to figure it out, when I do get it I will let you all know what exactly I did that got it to work. I've already tried the pry bar but couldn't get it to move enough to matter. It needs to go towards the passenger side and down a littl bit.... anyway, I'm gonna try to get it figured out.

Thanks for the help people.

my rear engine mount needs changed and i might buy the whole set to change all of them... do you just pop out the rubber part and put the new one in or how do you do this?

For the big ones (timming side and tranny side), you pop out the OG inserts and install the new Prothane inserts.

For the smaller ones (radiator side and firewall side), you just fit the Prothane inserts over the OG rubber.

FYI - the original/stock inserts on the big mounts are a little tricky to get out. I ended up having to use an air chisel/hammer.

The best and easiest way to get the "big mounts" out is to use a press. If you dont have one take them to a shop with a press and they will charge like 15 bucks at the most. I got lucky and had my friend take mine to the machine shop he works at and he did them in 10 min for free.

mine shakes my teeth out.....ok well it shakes my eyes at idle LOL. I have poly mounts and no Balance shafts though. those balance shafts do have a purpose, let me tell you. The shaking hasn't subsided for me but its only at idle. i'm thinking of increasing the idle to 1K to help with the shaking. you'll enjoy the increased response when you stomp it though
