That.. sir... sounds like Rod Knock.

If this is the block that came out of the black TSI AWD that he picked up form me - those bearings were fresh. The con rod ends were never torqued down. So if it was assembled without inspecting them and making sure the proper torque was applied and there was no debris...or if the car was ran with lack of oil on first start up this can happen.

Time to drop the oil pan and see which is bad.

Just look for shavings and then grab each rod and try to push/pull it away/towards the crank. If it moves that way, it's bad. Left and right play is alright at a minimal.

I heard that thing run before he broke that bolt off in the head and it didn't have a rod knock in it. If it was me I would check the flywheel bolts. He had a problem with that once before and I heard it run with a loose flywheel and it sounded similar to that noise. I even said when I heard it run with the loose flywheel it sounded like rod knock. That day we heard the noise i asked if he torqued the rods and he told me he did. Slide under the car and idk if the inspection cover for the flywheel is on the car but if not try and push/ pull on the flywheel. If it moves any that is your problem. He never started the car low of oil and he primed the oil pump before he started it the for first time.

The wrist pins where loose when I first got the block alex. They are torqued to specs. And lubed. The oil pump was primed.. Also pushed oil through the system before the first start up. About the lifters. They came out of the old motor. They wer cleaned (paper clip method) throroly. And REPRIMED before I installed the cams. And they still ticked momentarily when it did run right but nothing major. I may have skiimped a little on the chassy. But the motor, I did not. Hence why even after it "ran decent" I still pressed on to get it perfect.

WTF!! Don't get all PMS-e. I'm just offering advice based on the sound of the engine, not based on if someone messed something up.

People get way too defensive these days. ._.

That definitely sounds like a rod know to me too. Brandon time to check the bottom end.

Sorry man. I wasn't meaning to come off cross. I want the same thing you do at the end of the day. Just stating what I did to the car and why I doubt its a knock. I want to see that car go. If I knowingly knew of a knock you would have knew when you came and got it. The guy who sold me that car that grenaded a couple weeks later. Don't make good bussiness in my book. That is why I am still helping and replying promptly to texts messages.

Didn't mean to sound like a dick. Hope you fix the problem brandon. Need anything call me.
