Heres my situation. I bought a complete six bolt last summer. The bottom end was rebuilt with 1g rods, Arias pistons and ARP mains, rods and head. The block was never hot tanked before the rebuilt, so the block rusty. The person I purchased it from really couldn't tell me much about the engine, such as who do the machine work and assembly. So I completely disassembled the engine had the block hot tanked and I am in the process of assembly. Bearing clearances checked out OK at .002. Then I checked the ring end gap and found some interesting results. The top ring has a gap of .012 which is in spec for stock pistons, but I would have expected to see .016-.020 on forged pistons. So I check the second ring and the gap is .035
, seems pretty excessive to me. Just wondering if any one knows Arias specs, I searched online but couldn't find them listed anywhere. I was assuming it would be around .016-.020 for top and .020-.024 for the second ring. At this point I am just glad that I took it apart to check everything out instead of trusting an unknown person.
