Are These N/T UnderDrive Pulleys Really Good?

Yeah I got that message so I just got annoyed and ending up getting a pair off ebay. I checked out the guys reviews and it worked good for a couple guys so I should be all set to go :D

i got a unorthadox racing one cause when i called about the AFX they told me they have to make them and had no idea when they would get one ready. this of course was almost a year ago, but gave me the impression that they arnt in a hurry to get any in stock.

That's good. just make sure you got the ones for the non turbo dsm, the turbo ones will NOT work.

I got these right here:

Code:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130383830641&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT

Also added a pair of headers so I'm thinking I should feel a nice difference right guys

Code:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260559640485&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT

What do you guys think? This should be good for at least +6 HP right?

You're getting screwed without lube...
Bomz Racing Light weight underdrive pulley 1995-1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse Turbo GST GSX/Talon Turbo
MSRP: $100.00
Sale Price: $69.95
You Save: $30.05 (30 %)

Bomz Racing Light weight underdrive pulley 1995-1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse Turbo GST GSX/Talon Turbo
Bomz Racing Inc. - Underdrive Pulley

Bomz Racing doesn't make underdrive pulleys for the 420A... or at least it's not listed on their site.

As for the headers... that is EXACTLY what i have. great quality and sound. Flows really well too. +! on MR products

i stand corrected.

As for the 6HP you want.... just remember...
Tests show that an average of 2.7 HP is gained from every pound of weight that is reduced from the crankshaft.

They are measuring this at the crank... However crank means nothing. Most people and most dynos go from Wheel Horse Power.

Never herd of them but anything should be better over the stock UDP...

Never herd of Bomz? I have their racing seats, a cheap alternative that are mainly there for looks :p. As for the 2.7hp i know i have read that from some website as well, but i am thinking it was from an ebay item so.. regardless you arnt really adding HP as much as you are freeing it up. Either way hope it works out for you.

Hopefully its a good brand :D I'm getting it in the mail tomorrow and then I'm going belt hunting. Where should I look for the belts auto zone or checkers?

I'm not sure what belt they recommend for size. When i got my unorthodox pulley, auto zone and advanced didn't carry the right size belt i needed so i settled 3 times for a close size (twice i obliterated my belt, 3rd one is still on and has been doing good for almost a year). I have a back up one thats the exact recommended size but i had to order it online from JEGS.com.

I went to checkers and they had the right belts the first tiem around :thumb:

I also put it in and noticed a BIG difference! I would highly recommend anyone get 1

"Billet" isn't a brand, (that I'm aware of, anyways) it's a form of metal. It means the part was cut from a billet stock, meaning the stock was cast in a manner which tends to align the grain, such as continuous extrusion. Many parts are marketed as being cut from billet.

Surely it being metal is a good thing right?

Yes, metals would work well in this situation. Fortunately, they are all made of metal. In this case, whether it is billet or not is hardly worth considering. The things we want to be sure of when purchasing a UDP is quality of machining and proper research. (or good cloning)

If it's unbranded, then you can only cross your fingers and hope that it is concentric, well balanced, and the proper depth for pulley alignment. I've not heard of anyone actually having a problem with cheap eBay UDP's, but I'm still weary of them.

I recommend Unorthodox Racing or AF/X.

how would I know if it's not well balanced? I mean, as you said, you haven't heard of anyone actually having a problem with the cheap eBay UDP's

But I just ate up a belt in like 3 days.. I think it was from misproper installation though, pics can be seen here:

either unbalanced, improper puller installation, or improper belt installation or belt size.. If you are sure you had the right size, I'd try putting another belt on and see how it goes. Remember belts stretch out gradually over use. You will most likely have to re-tighten it after a month or two of driving. If this is happening only after a couple days its either the pulley isnt lined up or its unbalanced.

well I got a cheap ebay UDP and that thing didn't really work for much longer than 3 days so i just ordered

Unorthodox Underdrive Crank Pulley 95-99 Eclipse/Talon 420a

like everyone said, i hope this one works out better and i'm dippin on the hondas :D
