AF/X used to be the standard; it was cheap (~$140), but reliable and made of quality material. I'm not sure they still make them, though, so you'd have to find one used.

Unorthodox makes a decent UDP. The underdrive is greater than the AF/X's, so less power goes to the accessories (this isn't necessarily bad), but it also costs more.

I've not heard anything about the Bombz UDP, but a lot of people have been experimenting with cheap "eBay" UDP's recently with acceptable results.

I've had 2 Bombz on my ESi. Never had a problem with them. 1st ran I had on the car for about 4 years. Paid about $60 each.

And if you're thinking, if they're so good, why did you go through 2? First one, the crank bolt backed out after the rebuild and the crank slipped & grinded out the inside of the pulley.

As others stated the AF/X and Unorthodox are the two best, however they are quite hard to find now. I dont think AF/X makes theirs anymore and I tried to find an Unorthodox one a while back and could not find any place that still sells them. The Bombz and ebay ones are most likely going to be your only options.

I have an unorthodox and I recommend it. The AF/X are hard to find like this guy said and stay away from ebay pullies.. They won't last long and some are not made properly. I bought a $50 ebay pulley, ran it for a day (car was a little faster, had fun but it tore the alternator belt )

Then I bought another $100 intimidater pulley and it didn't fit.. then I just decided to go with the best..

If you aren't running accessories, like me, buy an ebay and take it your local machine shop to have the outer lip milled off and have the whole thing balanced for about 75 bucks. You'll have a lighter, better performing UDP than anyone else....but me....

FYI, just turning the pulley on a lathe won't necessarily make it balanced, just round. A good machine shop should know how to balance it too, though.

I probably should have made more of a big deal about this, because that is what the eBay UDP's suffer from in the first place. They aren't balanced properly. But like you said Paul, any good machine shop can do this.

Yeah, you can, but unless you don't have accessories and are planning on doing what I suggested, then the cost to benefit ratio is the same as just getting a high end UDP.

I just visited Unorthodx's site, and it looks like you can still purchase them. Thats your only option unless you can get an AF/X second hand. The unorthodox udp is $195.
